Sandwell lies in the heart of the West Midlands, in an area of the UK known as "The Black Country". There are six main towns which make up Sandwell; Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich.
Sandwell Community Show 2008
The Sandwell Community Show is held over the August Bank Holiday (Sunday 24th and Monday 25th) and is said to be the biggest free council organised show in the country.
We have a horticultural marquee where the most spectacular vegetables in Sandwell are judged, Gardening Question Time, as well as a Craft Fair, Circus, Play Marquee, Communities Marquee, Sports Marquee, Physical Activity Festival, Fun Fair, Arena Acts and lots of fun, fun, fun.
Recycling Collection Trials Start This Week
Trials in collecting extra materials for recycling, including plastic, cardboard and drinks cartons start in the Great Barr/Newton/Hamstead area this week. Households taking part in the trials have received a new wheeled bin and fortnightly collection calendars.
