Gypsy and Travellers Site
Sandwell MBC currently manages a gypsy and travellers provision in Tipton which is a specific, fully subscribed site and has for a considerable time, accommodated a long standing and stable gypsy and traveller community.
A Gypsy and Travellers accommodation assessment, in partnership with Fordham Research, is currently underway.
As part of this review, the accommodation and support needs required for Gypsy and Travellers across the Borough should be highlighted.
Interim Regional Statement on Gypsy and Traveller Policy
The Partnerships and Housing Directorate has also recently submitted a bid for grant funding from the Department of Communities and Local Government, Gypsy and Travellers Reburbishment Grant Programme for 2008/10, to support the refurbishment and remodelling of existing provision within the Borough.
