Community and Living

From the cradle to the grave - this section aims to point you towards a range of information and contacts that anyone living or working in Sandwell might need to know.

Sandwell has a number of vibrant communities, with a plethora of local organisations supporting them. Some are based in the area (such as residents' associations or amenity groups), some cater for specific interests (such as hobbies or religious groups) and some are set up to provide voluntary services to those in need of extra help and support.

Rogue Traders

A cowboy behind barsCommonly referred to as "cowboys", rogue traders pose as property maintenance workers, gardeners and builders offering any number of services to residents. They offer substandard or non-existent services at grossly inflated prices and often target the vulnerable or elderly in the community.

Sandwell Council and West Midlands Police have joined forces to establish the Sandwell Doorstep Crime Partnership. This is a specialist team of officers set up to protect residents from rogue traders who call door to door in their neighbourhoods.
