Civic Affairs

 

Civic Affairs provides secretarial and administrative support to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

The responsibilities of the Civic Affairs team include:
  • Organising and planning all civic and ceremonial functions, including events for the Mayor’s chosen charity
  • Dealing with enquiries to the Mayor and preparing relevant correspondence on the Mayor’s behalf
  • Providing advice on civic protocol in connection with mayoral engagements, including visits by other civic heads and V.I.P.s
  • Administering the Mayor’s General Fund
  • Day-to-day management of The Big House, including diary management for room bookings, upkeep of the Mayor’s Parlour, custody and maintenance of the Mayoral Silver, Insignia and Robes
  • Managing and providing transport for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chief Executive, Leader, Elected Members and Senior Officers in connection with civic functions and council business
  • Providing the services of a mace bearer for all civic ceremonial events and council meetings
  • Maintaining a stock of civic gifts for other civic heads and honoured guests
  • Keeping a library of past Municipal Yearbooks to provide research material
