Interview Room 2
The Big House - Interview Room 2
This room has been dedicated to the military and features the pictures of the 7 Sandwell men who all received the Victoria Cross. Their photographs and details of their heroic exploits can be seen over the fireplace which is an original feature of the house. We have dedicated a special section to our war veterans.
There is also a figure presented by a freedom regiment, and a vase which was a gift from the Twinned Town of Blanc Mesnil in France.
The room contains a portrait of Keir Hardie - First Labour MP, presented by Deputy Mayor Cllr Brenda Taylor ( situated immediately behind the door - right hand side ). On the bottom wall and right of the window is a certificate recording monies received from the people of Oldbury for a bench to commemorate Jack Judge who lived in Oldbury and who wrote 'It's a long way to Tipperary'.
To the left of the window and continuing down the left hand wall are gifts from the regiments of South Staffs, Worcester and Sherwood and 237 West Bromwich who have freedom of the Borough. To the left of the door is a portrait of the member of Parliament for Smethwick - Andrew Faulds - deceased.

On the fireplace are reproductions of pots that would have been used in Oak House , another historic building situated in West Bromwich. Also on the fireplace is the old West Bromwich bell that would have been used at Council Meetings.
