Le Blanc-Mesnil

Le Blanc-Mesnil is situated 10 kilometres northeast of Paris in the Department (County) of Seine-Saint-Denis. It is an industrial area and is 582 kilometres from Sandwell.

The twinning agreement, between Sandwell and Le Blanc-Mesnil, signed on 4th May 1985 is:

• To honour the twinning arrangement by establishing and maintaining friendly relations with each other.
  
• To foster and develop mutual understanding and respect between the people of Sandwell and the people of Le Blanc-Mesnil.
  
• To encourage and assist youth and adult organisations, clubs, companies, groups and all classes of persons in Sandwell and Blanc-Mesnil to communicate and exchange visits with each other; thereby developing human and cultural relations and establishing a firm foundation for future understanding and friendship between the people of Sandwell and Blanc-Mesnil for all time.

Amritsar

Amritsar is famous for its Golden Temple, Durgiana Mandir and Jalianwala Bagh. It is situated in Punjab in Northern India. The City was founded in 1577 and has a rich cultural heritage. Amritsar means "the tank of nectar or immortality". It is the second largest city of Punjab, a centre of trade and industry, a seat of learning and literature and a very important Sikh holy place.

The twinning agreement, between Sandwell and Amritsar, signed on 25th May 1999 is:

• To honour this twinning arrangement by establishing and maintaining friendly relations with each other.
• To foster and develop mutual understanding and respect between the people of Sandwell and the people of Amritsar.
  
• To encourage and promote links between local people of the two towns in the fields of Education, Training, Culture, Economy, Leisure, Science and Technology, Youth, Industry and Commerce as well as Voluntary and Community Development and Civic Management, thereby developing friendship between people of Sandwell and Amritsar for all time.
