Skills for Life Strategy
A Three Year Vision for Sandwell: The Skills for Life Strategy 2008/11
Skills for Life are "the ability to read, write and speak in English and use mathematics at level necessary to function at work and in society in general".
The low level of Skills for Life amongst the population of Sandwell is well documented, and it is imperative that we have a coherent, borough-wide approach to tackling the problem.
The Skills for Life Strategy demonstrates the need for Sandwell to continue its sustained drive to improve adult skills for life achievements and provides a range of services and activities, often extended hours, to meet the needs of adults, families and the wider community.
The Strategy is being supported by key stakeholders such as the Learning and Skills Council, Jobcentre Plus, Sandwell College and Sandwell Adult & Family Learning Services to increase the capacity of the borough to deliver Skills for Life provision.
The full version of Sandwell's Skills for Life 3 year plan 2008/11 is available on www.reach-discover.sandwell.gov.uk
The website also provides the latest information on news within the borough, along with key guidance and information about learning activities and staff development opportunities.
