You know your child best and need to choose childcare that will suit the needs of your child and yourself. The Government have created a framework of regulations and a set of National Standards that all providers must meet to ensure that the childcare they offer is of good quality.

Ofsted

In September 2001, Ofsted became the single regulatory body responsible for registering and inspecting all existing and future childcare providers against the National Standards.

Registered Childcare

Childcare provison must be registered if children are 0-8 years of age, and the care is operating for 2 hours or more and or for 5 days a year or more.

The National Standards

All childcare providers are required to meet the 14 National Standards.

Education Law for Three and Four Year Olds

All children aged three and four should be able to access a free early education place.
