Head Teachers

As a head teacher, Building Schools for the Future (BSF) gives you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute to the educational direction of your school for years to come. For it to succeed, head teachers must be fully engaged in the planning and development of proposals for their schools.

As you are aware, BSF is delivering millions of pounds to transform schools across Sandwell, so this is an ideal opportunity not just to renew the fabric of your buildings, but also to engage with staff, pupils and the local community in thinking about the school, how it works and what everyone wants from it for the future.

This may seem a daunting process, but there should be plenty of scope for discussion and time for well-structured planning before any changes are made.

The Sandwell BSF team will fully support you, and you will be supported and advised by Sandwell Council, the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and Partnerships for Schools (PfS) throughout the process.

The private sector partners chosen to form a Local Education Partnership (LEP) will also consult with you as plans develop.

Information and guidance can also be obtained from a number of organisations, some of which are listed under External Links, on how to make the design and construction process a positive experience for the school and the whole community.

As a head teacher, you will already be fully involved with BSF.
