Primary Capital Programme

The 15 year, £7billion, Primary Capital Programme (PCP), which is introduced nationally in April 2009, aims to rebuild, revamp and remodel 8,000 out of England's 18,000 primary and primary special schools. Sandwell will receive a fair share of this funding, allowing us to continue at a speedier rate the primary investment that we have already started.

The PCP, like its secondary counterpart, Building Schools for the Future (BSF), is more than just a building programme. It is part of our vision to transform services for children and their families.

Sandwell’s first phase of the new funding will be available from 2009.

How to Get Involved

Sandwell Council has published its draft Primary Strategy for Change - our over - arching local plan for the PCP and we would like to hear teh views of all interested parties about our Strategy before it is finalised for the start of the Programme.

As things move forward, we will be getting into detail to decide which schools will need the new investment. We shall need the help and support of parents and local communities to make sure we plan the best services we can for children and their families, so keep an eye on this site for further developments.

Commercial organisations should note that we anticipate using the planned BSF Local Education Partnership for much of the primary schools procurement.

See the secondary Building Schools for the Future pages for more information.
