School Performance
There are two main sources that provide information for parents on the performance of individual schools.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) Achievement and Attainment Tables are published annually and include information on the results achieved by individual schools.
The Achievement and Attainment Tables are published for Primary Schools (Key Stage 2), Secondary Schools (GCSE and equivalent) and Schools and Colleges with Post-16 students (Key Stage 5).
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. Ofsted sends inspection teams to inspect schools, Colleges and Childcare Providers on a regular basis, although this might not be every year for every setting.
These inspections cover all aspects of care and learning, including achievement and attainment. As part of the inspection each school is judged and given a grade in a number of key areas.
After each inspection a report is published in the Ofsted Inspection Reports section of the Ofsted Website detailing the findings of that inspection.
These reports provide a useful source of information for parents as outlined on the Ofsted Parents and Carers website.
In addition, the Directgov Website provides useful information for parents and includes an explanation of the National Curriculum and the Key Stage tests and assessments.
