About EMAN
Ethnic Minority Achievement Network (EMAN) is funded by the Ethnic Minority Achievement Grant to support the attainment of pupils from minority ethnic backgrounds.
At EMAN we strive to ensure inclusive opportunities for all pupils by:
- supporting individuals and groups of pupils within schools;
- identifying the needs of minority ethnic pupils;
- monitoring the progress of pupils with English as an Additional Language;
- offering resources to support minority ethnic pupils.
At EMAN we offer guidance, training, support and resources to help:
- with bilingual support for schools with pupils from the Asian subcontinent;
- newly arrived pupils from overseas with English as an additional language;
- pupils with EAL in the early years and all key stages;
- refugees and asylum seekers
- schools preparing for Ofsted
At EMAN we work to build partnerships with:
- children, families, schools and communities.
At EMAN we offer a professional development programme which includes:
- centre based training; school based training packages for EMAG funded teachers, class teachers and teaching assistants;
- joint training programmes with other Sandwell teams, including the literacy and numeracy teams;
- consultancy on EMAG issues;-
- pre - and post - Ofsted support packages.
