Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education

The Sandwell Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) is a local authority body which is responsible for the character of RE in Sandwell schools.

Under the 1988 Education Act each LEA is required (not merely allowed, as before) to establish a Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) to advise the Authority and its teachers on matters concerning R.E. It also has a duty to convene an occasional group called an Agreed Syllabus conference, every five years, to review the Agreed Syllabus.
