Youth Service
The Youth Service aims to provide opportunities to create personal learning and development opportunities for all young people in Sandwell, by working in partnership with local people and other agencies to positively address the impact of poverty and social exclusion. This will be done by empowering individuals and communities to increasingly manage and direct the issues that affect their lives.
"Greater investment in the Council's youth work in the community will continue to improve services for young people" has been identified in the Council Performance Plan.
Sandwell Youth Service delivers youth work through a series of projects and activities based at 16 community centres, 4 schools and in 4 specialist centres. It extends its provision through neighbourhood projects in partnership with other providers including the voluntary sector, schools and the Connexions service. In May 2006, Sandwell Youth Service had an Enhanced Youth Service Inspection. The inspection report concluded Sandwell Youth Service is 'an improving service as well as an expanding one'.
The Youth Service is committed to complying with Ofsted's quality assurance framework and is working towards ensuring that all service areas meet the set standard.
