Information on the services that the Council and it's partners provide.
Environmental Services comprises of a number of service areas:
Recycling and Waste Services
This service has responsibility for the collection and disposal of 140,000 tonnes of rubbish produced in the borough each year. Services provided include the collection of domestic refuse and trade/business waste, the provision of recycling collections for garden waste and other recyclables, and includes the management of the Household Waste and Recycling Centre and local Recycling Centres.
Bereavement Service:
The service manages and operates the burial and cremation requirements of the Borough.
Support Services:
The activities provided by Support Services principally include Land and Highways Drainage, Litter Enforcement, Reservoir Inspections, Unsewered Properties, Abandoned Vehicles, Stores, Courier Services, Waste Transfer Station, Litterline Call Centre, Administrative, Business, Financial and IT Support for the Groundcare and Waste Control Services.
Markets Service:
The service manages the day-to-day operations of the six markets within the Borough and is also responsible for administering and enforcing the Street Trading Legislation.
Parks and Countryside Management and Visitors Centres:
The service strives towards enhancing the Borough's Leisure green space, including Sandwell Valley Country Park, Sandwell Park Farm, Forge Mill Farm, Town Parks, Neighbourhood Parks, Allotments, The Galton Valley Heritage Centre and the boroughs Local Nature Reserves. A programme of events, which includes the Sandwell Show, are also staged throughout the year.
Catering:
The catering section provides catering facilities at Sandwell Valley Tea Rooms, staff canteens, and members' catering. The section is also responsible for the Councils' Meals on Wheels service. A full programme of events, take place at the "Regis" throughout the year.
