Rethink West Brom
The vision: West Bromwich, a well-connected base for successful business and investment, a vibrant centre with great retail, cultural and leisure experiences, supported by a healthy, skilled community with access to rewarding employment opportunities, good quality housing choices and excellent educational and learning facilities.
Sandwell is a richly diverse area, and the regeneration of West Bromwich is a long-term plan focused on reviving and establishing sustained long-term growth at the heart of Sandwell through the creation of more jobs, a better place to live, more and better homes, a focus on skills and learning and a place where people can enjoy top quality leisure and retail facilities.
With excellent public transport links and its close proximity to the major motorway networks, we will attract new investors to the borough and provide many opportunities for residents.
The regeneration programme is unparalleled and ambitious, yet deliverable, on a scale that has not been seen in the local area for generations. A number of partners are involved in this programme and are working together to transform the area.
There will be a number of new housing initiatives; a new shopping and leisure hub that will provide a variety of bars, cafés, restaurants and recreation facilities; high quality working environments and a state-of-the-art new college facility.
Projects that have been delivered so far are The Public, Astle Park, the bus station, new homes and a health centre on the Lyng Estate, an improved town square and improvements to the transport infrastructure with the metro running through West Bromwich.
