Children and Family Care

There are a range of services available to children who need protecting from neglect and abuse. Our aim is to keep families together however, when this is not possible we may have to provide care for the child ourselves.

Every Child Matters

The Advice, Referral and Assessment Service is the access point for all new referrals to Children's Services in Sandwell.

Advice, Referral and Assessments

Advice, Referral and Assessment Service provides 'signposting' to other Services, assessments of need to ensure equal access to the provision of services and short term intervention and support to children in need.

On occasion it is necessary to formally intervene in families where a child's safety cannot be ensured, and to co-ordinate a multi agency response to safeguard those children at risk from harm.

Adoption and Fostering

We provide both short and long-term foster and adoptive placements for children and young people who require a planned period away from home.

Child Protection

Child abuse can be physical injury of a child, neglect, emotional abuse or sexual abuse. It happens to children of all ages, from birth up to 18 years of age, from any social background or ethnic group. It can involve a parent, another family member or someone else they know well in addition to someone not known to the child.

Looked After Children

When support in the family home is not the answer to serious problems, and no-one else in the family is able to help, a child may need to be looked after elsewhere either temporarily or permanently.

Safeguarding Children

The Safeguarding Children Board is the multi-agency forum for agreeing how local services to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people should be planned, delivered and monitored in the Sandwell.

Sandwell Integrated Support Service

The Sandwell Integrated Support Service is a multi-agency service supporting children and young adults with special needs and/or disabilities from birth up to the age of 25 years old and their families.
