Sandwell Integrated Support Service
The Sandwell Integrated Support Service is a multi-agency service supporting children and young adults with special needs and/or disabilities from birth up to the age of 25 years old and their families.
What information can the service give?
The Service will provide advice and information on any aspects of a child or young person’s life that is affected by a disability or a special need. We can provide this information over the phone or via e-mail.
Who can receive support from the Service?
Anyone who lives in the Borough of Sandwell or who attends a Sandwell school can contact the Service. All teams within the Service have criteria for who can receive support. More details on these are available below and from a series of factsheets and leaflets that you can request from us, and will soon be able to download from this site.
What support can the Service provide?
The Teams within the Service are :
- Children with Disabilities Team - provides a range of advice and support for children, young people and their families, including arranging regular breaks, help at home and details of play opportunities.
- Transition Team - supports young people leaving school or college with education, employment, training, leisure, youth and support options.
- Community Nursing and Psychology Service - supports children and young people with alearning disability in relation to their physical or mental health needs.
- Counselling Service - provides counselling for parents and carers of children with a disability.
- Early Years Integrated Support Service - supports pre-school children with individual or special needs by offering programmes of development, advice and training to parents and practitioners.
- Sensory Support Team - supports children and young people with a hearing or visual impairment, their families and staff in schools and pre-school settings.
We also maintain and run the Register for children with disabilities.
Will you share information about my family and me?
Information that you or other people give us about you or your family will be shared between the Teams and professionals within the Service if this is necessary for us to provide you with support. When you agree to support from any of the Teams within the Service you will be asked to agree to information about you being shared in this way. You can ask for all or particular pieces of information not be shared. Information shared with the Counsellor will not normally be disclosed to any other Team within the Service.
