Landlord Accreditation

Sandwell belongs to the Midland Landlord Accreditation Scheme (MLAS) which is a region wide scheme, including Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Walsall, based on the successful London Landlord Accreditation Scheme (LLAS).

If you become accredited with one Local Authority, your accreditation is recognised in the other participating authorities.

To become accredited you need to sign up to a code of conduct, declare that you are a fit and proper person and attend a days training, at the end of which you will receive an electronic copy of a 235 page landlords manual.

Sandwell also invites accredited landlords to offer their properties for accreditation.

Benefits of accreditation

  • Accredited landlords can advertise their properties in the councils Property shops free of charge.
  • Free energy performance Certificates (EPC's) for accredited landlords
  • Priority in any grants that are available
  • The opportunity to work with Sandwell in housing some of their clients
  • The opportunity to work with the Deposit Guarantee Scheme (DIGs)
  • Access to officers at Sandwell council to provide you with help and advice.
