Housing Market Renewal Area (HMRA)
The Birmingham Sandwell Pathfinder is one of nine Housing Market Renewal Areas approved by the Government in April 2002.
It covers the Local Authority areas of Birmingham City Council and Sandwell MBC extending in a broad band through major areas of West Bromwich, Smethwick, Handsworth, Winson Green, Lozells, Newtown and Aston – an area of 3,255 hectares and 60,000 dwellings.
HMRA is essentially about restructuring the housing market and improving the ‘offer’ of housing in the Pathfinder area to give residents and potential residents a wider choice and quality of properties to meet their needs.
