Strategies
Sandwell Council has produced a five year Supporting People Strategy. This document contains information about support, allowing the development of improved, flexible support provision which is ultimately led by local community needs.
The strategy involves partners and includes
- Information about existing services
- Details of planned changes
- Identification of resource and funding
- An agreed framework for monitoring and managing schemes
- Detail of how services that work across authority boundaries will be managed.
The strategy covers many services which people need, and many already rely on, to be able to stay safely at home. This includes warden services for older people in sheltered housing schemes, hostels for families and people who find themselves homeless, young people living on their own for the first time and those who need more specialist services because of health or special needs. The strategy recognise the needs of diverse communities, including the black and minority ethnic customers.
