St. George's Day

 

Sandwell Council is proud to celebrate England's patron saint's day and is hosting a free party with fun for all the family.

St George on a horseThe annual celebration will be at Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich, from 11am on Saturday 18 April.

Visitors will get a taste of life in the Middle Ages with a living history encampment. Demonstrations will feature:
  • Cooking
  • Candle-making
  • Arrow making
  • Ceramics
  • Musical instruments
People can try archery, watch jousting, and for the first time this year there is a 27ft Medieval Crusader Boat and timetabled talks on seafaring, navigation, trade and communication. There is also the chance to meet a few medieval characters and St George himself.

Favourites performing including a Brass Band, Poetry Wednesbury, Morris Dancing and Pat Collins Fun Fair.

The council is holding a St George's Day concert on Thursday 23rd April at West Bromwich Town Hall.
