National Year Of Reading
2008 is the National Year of Reading. There will be lots of ways to celebrate reading in Sandwell. Look out for more details here and in the local press throughout the year.
Sandwell Libraries Storytelling Café
The Storytelling Café offers a monthly escape into the realms of legend and folklore, and introducing people to the finest storytellers from around the world. The Café is widely regarded as one of the most successful events of its kind in Britain.
Reading Groups
Over the past few years reading groups have become increasingly popular. Lots of people want to share their enjoyment of reading so that it becomes a lifelong habit. Libraries are excellent places to find out more about books and to find new authors.

Find out about recent bestselling titles. You can request these items if they are not on the shelf when you visit your library.

Books On Prescription
This is a scheme offered by Sandwell Library & Information Service in partnership with Sandwell Primary Care Trust where GPs or health professionals offer patients a recommended self help book available from their local library.
