Summer Reading Challenge
Want to make the world a better place? It all starts at your local library.
The Big Wild Read 2007
Don’t miss your chance to help save the planet by reading lots of books this summer. Every book you read for the Summer Reading Challenge will help plant trees.
All the books read in Sandwell will be added to all the books read in the whole country and will be turned into tree tokens so that new trees can be planted all over Great Britain.
You can join the challenge at your local library any time starting from 21st July 2007. It lasts all through the school summer holidays.
How does the Big Wild Read work?
The Big Wild Read is free!
You only have to read 6 books to complete the challenge and get a Big Wild Read certificate and medal.
Don’t worry if you’re not a library member yet; you can join on the day and start borrowing books straight away. That’s free too!
If you’ve never done the Summer Reading Challenge before give it a go this year. It’s easy and its fun.
When you register in the library you choose your first 2 books and will be given a Big Wild Read Pack. This is to collect stickers for reading the books and has lots of fun things to do.
Each time you come to the library you will get stickers for the books you have read.
Choose some more books and take them home to read.
Keep on coming to the library and choosing more books until you have read 6 books and collected 6 stickers.
Now you have completed the reading challenge and will get your award from the library.
Libraries have lots of free giveaways and summer holiday activities to keep you going with your reading. Check out the Library What’s On pages to find out what’s happening where you are.
Don’t forget - The books you read help plant trees!
