Acceptable standards of use within Learning Centres

To ensure that standards of acceptable use are maintained within the Learning Centres in all Sandwell Libraries an Acceptable Use Policy has been introduced. The document outlines the Policy for all Learning Centres.

To make sure that standards of acceptable use are maintained in all Sandwell Library Learning Centres, we have introduced the following conditions of use.

Acceptable Use of Computers in Sandwell Libraries

  • You are responsible for your use of the Internet.
  • You must only use your own library card to log onto a computer.
  • Parents/carers are responsible for children's use of the Internet. If you are under 16 you need permission to use computers, apart from during supervised sessions.
  • Headphones must be used for listening to music and speech.

You must not:

  • Use and display illegal, obscene, pornographic or offensive material.
  • Use and display foul, offensive or abusive language.
  • Breach copyright laws.
  • Damage the computer.
  • Go into databases illegally or without permission.
  • Harass library staff or users.

If we find you doing any of the above you will be banned from using all Sandwell Library Computers.

Sandwell MBC will prosecute offences under the Computer Misuse Act 1980.

Sandwell MBC will report instances of identity fraud to the police.
