Enjoy many of Sandwell's historical and cultural attractions by using specially created heritage trails.

Sandwell Heritage Trails

From the Stone Age to the present day, Sandwell has a rich and diverse heritage. Each of the borough's six towns are as individual as their residents, and have produced engineers, architects and artists who not only helped to shape the future of the local region, but both the rest of the UK and the World.

Oldbury Heritage Trail

In the 19th century black pit banks and spoil heaps, grey chemical mounds, red marl holes and the silver threads of the canals crept over the green fields of Oldbury and Langley.

Rowley Regis Heritage Trail

The large Victorian Haden Hill House and adjoining Haden Hill Park are just two of the eleven stops on the Rowley Regis Heritage Trail.  Other attractions include Cobbs Engine House & Chimney and Warrens Hall Country Park & Nature Reserve.

Tipton Heritage Trail

The tiny ancient hamlet which the Domesday Book recorded as having 'land for five ploughs' grew in the industrial revolution to a place 'palpitating to the beat and throb of a thousand steam engines' where 'iron is manipulated and fashioned to the service of man in every conceivable way that human ingenuity can devise'

Smethwick Heritage Trail

Thomas Telford's Galton Bridge and James Watt's Smethwick Engine are just two of the 12 stops on the trail that highlight Smethwick's pioneering industrial heritage. Other attractions include the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple and the art nouveau Council House.

Wednesbury Heritage Trail

Recent archaeological excavations in Wednesbury have helped bring to life aspects of this mediaeval town’s history. Wednesbury Heritage Trail takes in 8 landmarks and includes amongst its many treasures the Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery showcasing the world’s largest public collection of Ruskin Pottery.

West Bromwich Heritage Trail

From the green oasis of Sandwell Valley; 2000 acres of park and woodland, to the ruins of the medieval Sandwell Priory, the West Bromwich trail takes in 12 landmarks including the Tudor Oak House and the Grade One listed Manor House.
