Our Museums
Sandwell Museum Service has a range of different sites, full of surprises, across the borough. Most of them are free to visit, and provide a host of different activities and experiences for you to discover.
Oak House is a delightful half timbered farmhouse dating from the late sixteenth century, furnished with a fine collection of Jacobean furniture. The house holds family events and school holiday activities throughout the year and has a lively education programme for schools.
A Victorian gentleman’s house, furnished in period style surrounded by 55 acres of award winning parkland. The house stands adjacent to Haden Hall, a restored Jacobean mansion open to the public several times each year. The House hosts a variety of events, exhibitions and school holiday activities as well as a lively schools programme.
Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery
A Victorian Art Gallery which houses Victorian paintings, old toys and an internationally important collection of Ruskin Pottery. Temporary exhibitions also run throughout they year, as well as a lively events programme and activities for schools.
Galton Valley Canal Heritage Centre
An eighteenth century cottage which was the boyhood home of Francis Asbury, the first American Methodist Bishop. Furnished in period style, and with memorabilia and information relating to Asbury’s life both in West Bromwich and in America.
Tipton Community Heritage Centre
A community heritage centre housed in Tipton library, telling the story of the town and its inhabitants from its earliest times. The lives and work of the people of Tipton are portrayed through displays, interactives, and a local history reference section.
