Our address is Sandwell Park Farm, Salters Lane, West Bromwich, B71 4BG. Telephone 0121 553 0220.
With rare and endangered plant and animal breeds, the farm acts as a refuge for breeds that would otherwise be lost. Originally the ‘home farm’ to Sandwell Hall and the Earl of Dartmouth’s estate, the farm is now the main gateway to Sandwell Valley Country Park.
The cattle, pigs, sheep, horses and poultry housed within the central farmyard and surrounding pastures are the actual breeds which would have been kept on the farm during Victorian times.
The farm also contains a collection of vintage agricultural machinery, examples of the farm workshops and displays illustrating activity in Sandwell Valley from pre-historic times.
The Walled Kitchen Garden demonstrates the techniques used to supply vegetables and fresh fruit to Sandwell Hall. Here you can see the varieties of fruit and vegetables that would have been grown in the 19th Century and even try it for yourself, as produce from the garden is sold from the shop next to the garden in season.
Meals, snacks and refreshments are available in our award winning Tea Rooms and there are picnic areas throughout the site. The Visitor Centre is open daily from 10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
During the year there are special events both at the farm and in the Country Park and details of these can be found on our Events page.
In addition to two large car parks, there are large areas for picnicking and playing games, and Priory Woods Local Nature Reserve is just a short walk away.
