Local Nature Reserves (LNR's) are important areas for wildlife, which have been specially protected and have a legal status. The borough of Sandwell has a number of LNR's of different sizes, which, support a wide range of wildlife.

Why are they important?

In an age when there is often pressure for development on land it is even more important that some areas are protected to ensure they are never developed. Nature Reserves provide a valuable place where wildlife can live, often alongside people, without fear of their habitats being destroyed.
