Within the Valley there are two local nature reserves, lakes for fishing, sailing and windsurfing, as well as two farms, golf courses, tennis courts, mountain bike trail, football pitches and a showground which plays host to a variety of events during the course of the years.

Sandwell Valley can be found just off Junction 1 of the M5 motorway, at West Bromwich. Sandwell Park Farm, Salter’s Lane, West Bromwich B71 4BG.

Sandwell Valley Country Park

Walking in Sandwell Valley Country ParkSandwell Valley Country Park provides a real taste of the countryside within one mile of West Bromwich Town Centre and has over 2000 acres of woodland and parkland with wildfowl lakes and the remains of an old Benedictine Priory.

The footpaths include part of the Beacon Way, a 25 mile waymarked trail from Sandwell Park Farm to Gentleshaw, and several nature trails. Within the country park is a farm.

Sandwell Park Farm

Pig at Sandwell Park FarmSandwell Park Farm is a fully restored 18th century farm which was constructed to supply food throughout the year to the Earls of Dartmouth’s estate and Sandwell Hall.

A variety of livestock housed within the central courtyard and adjoining pasture are the actual breeds which would have been kept on the farm at the turn of the century.

Forge Mill Farm

Jersey Cow at Forge Mill farmForge Mill Farm is owned and run by Sandwell Metropolitan Council as a modern dairy farm and visitor centre. Meet the Jersey cows and calves, watch milking in the afternoons, feed the goats and hens or take a walk around the farm trail. There is a play area plus indoor and outdoor picnic areas.
