Free Swimming from April 2009
From 1st April 2009 free public swimming will be available for those aged 16 and under and 60+. This is a Government Initiative to help increase participation that subject to funding will initially run until March 2011. To obtain your free swimming pass visit your nearest Sandwell Leisure Trust swimming centre with relevant identification.
Please note this initiative does not include swimming lessons, aquafit, fun sessions or targeted sessions. Some public swimming sessions may also have time slots during busy periods, customers are advised to check for availability.

Investment in Facilities
Extensive refurbishment work has been made to the main pool roof area and changing room facilities the centre which is now fully open for normal operation. New X-Bikes, indoor mountain bikes, help to provide the ultimate interactive fitness workout and compliment the range of exercise and resistance equipment available. Inductions, health referrals and personal programmes are also available.
Extensive restoration work is also being completed to the exterior of the building to return the art-deco archecture of this iconic Smethwick building that played host to bands such as The Rolling Stones and The Beatles.
The Centre has also recently been added to the official UK haunted locations listing and plays host to ghost hunting events. In association with Frightnights UK.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 6.30am - 10.00pm, Thursday 9.00am - 10.00pm, Saturday 8.00am - 5.30pm, Sunday 8.00am - 12.30pm. Please check with Centre for specific programme and facility opening times.
Awards & Accreditations
Smethwick Swimming Centre was awarded Quest Accreditation in February 2008. Quest accreditation defines standards in Facility Operations, Staffing, Customer Service, Service Development and Review as recommended by the British Quality Foundation. Quest is a Nationally recognised quality standard designed by the leisure industry for the leisure industry. Accredited facilities can also benchmark with other operators nationally.
