Situated at the heart of the country's motorway and rail networks getting to and around Sandwell couldn't be easier, we're just off junction 1 (signposted West Bromwich) of the M5 motorway with excellent Metro links connecting us to nearby cities Birmingham and Wolverhampton and we're relatively close to both international and light plane airports.

Sandwell has much to offer including the legacy of a fascinating industrial and pre-industrial past, a unique network of canals and a vast country park with unsurpassed access to the rest of the West Midlands.

What to do

Discover what life was like at our many historic sites which include the 12th Century Manor House, the 12th Century Sandwell Priory, the mediaeval timber framed Tudor Oak House and award winning 19th Century Haden Hill House to name but a few. Spend an afternoon at the Galton Valley Canal Visitor Centre in Smethwick and learn more about how the canals of the Industrial Revolution left Sandwell with its proud and rich industrial heritage or get a real taste of the countryside at the Sandwell Valley with over 2000 acres of woodland and parkland with wildfowl lakes within one mile of the West Bromwich Town Centre.

 Sandwell’s ten Sport and Leisure facilities provide safe and welcoming places for recreation and physical activity and there’s hours of fun to be had by all the family with activities to suit everyone and for all ages.

Conference Venues

 If you are looking for a venue for a large conference, corporate event, sales presentation or training meeting, then follow the signs to Junction One of the M5 motorway in West Bromwich. Within a couple of minutes of this junction the J1 M5 Venues offer a broad range of facilities for all types of events; priced to deliver value for money. The venues are in an excellent location, easily accessible from anywhere within the UK.

Eating and Drinking

 An evening out in Sandwell is a night to remember and our many friendly pubs, bars and restaurants have a deserved reputation for the warmth of their welcome. There’s no escaping the fact that this is a culturally diverse town with international cuisine to match and a wide variety of places to eat offering great choice and value for money.

Shops and Markets

 One of the real joys of shopping in West Bromwich is the sheer breadth of types of shops you can find within easy reach of one another. Sandwell’s thriving markets and shopping centres such as the Astle Outlet Park have much to offer including well- known High Street brands Marks & Spencer, Nike, Next and Designer Fashions, and it’s just a short hop on the Metro to Birmingham – home to the internationally renowned Bull Ring Shopping Centre, with over 140 shops and eateries. Look out for the landmark Selfridges building and try the Mailbox with its Harvey Nichols store.

Events and Festivals

 Events and festivals in Sandwell are a real celebration of culture and community pride and all are welcome. There is much to choose from including the Sandwell Show encompassing an annual Horticultural and Midland Leek Show complete with thrilling fun fair which is always a favourite, and for all you vintage car enthusiasts the Historical Vehicle Show is a must-see. A wealth of family focussed events are on offer throughout the year with the St. George’s Day Parade and Family Fun Day and the Bonfire and Firework Festival to name but a few.
