Policing and Public Safety
The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 placed a statutory responsibility on both the Police and Local Authorities to plan and co-ordinate crime and disorder reduction work in their local area. In Sandwell the Police and Council work together with over 40 other organisations in the Safer Sandwell Partnership to undertake this work.
Sandwell MBC addresses issues surrounding:
- Community Safety – in reducing the opportunities for crime and the fear of crime.
- Anti-Social Behaviour – offering advice and assistance to those experiencing problems with anti-social behaviour.
- Domestic Violence - offering advice and assistance to those experiencing domestic abuse through Sandwell Organisation Against Domestic Abuse (SOADA)
- Crimestoppers – a partnership between the media, police, the local community and local businesses promoting a successful crime detection initiative.
- Victim Support – providing information and advice on organisations and services you may find useful.
