Making Sandwell Safer
The Safer Sandwell Partnership is one of the six themes of the Sandwell Partnership, working together to make Sandwell a better place.
Information about crime in Sandwell, what we are doing to tackle the problem and how you can get help and advice if you have been a victim of crime. You can also find out how we work with other organisations to build safer communities.
Residents tell us that tackling Anti-Social behaviour is a priority for them. The legal definition of anti-social behaviour is 'behaviour which causes harassment alarm and distress to individuals or to groups of people'. This definition tends to describe the outcome rather than behaviour. A few of the major causes for concern are graffiti, animals out of control, neighbour disputes and noise nuisance, abandoned vehicles and fly tipping.
Cleaner, Safer Streets and Public Spaces
The cleanliness of the streets and general environment in Sandwell is of consistent concern to residents and other stakeholders. The Wardens work alongside organisations such as the Police and the Fire Service as well as Council Departments to make Sandwell a cleaner and safer place to be.
In Sandwell we aim to encourage good community relations as these cannot simply be taken for granted or left to chance. We have devised a report and action plan to help this process and work with you and our partners to make changes.
Being a victim of crime can affect people in
different ways. We offer information and advice to direct you to
organisations and services that you may find useful.
A large percentage of crime is committed by a small number of offenders. These are known as prolific and other priority offenders. Nationally around half of all crime is committed by 10% of offenders. Targeting this group achieves further reductions in recorded crime and helps prevent offending in the first place.
