Information about Crime and Disorder in Sandwell.

The 1998 Crime and Disorder Act established partnerships (known as Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships or CDRPs) between the police, local authorities, probation service, health authorities, the fire service, the voluntary sector and other agencies in order to build safer communities by tackling issues of crime and disorder in their areas. In Sandwell the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership is known as the Safer Sandwell Partnership.

In 2005 a review of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 was conducted by government. This review now requires CDRPs to undertake six-monthly strategic assessments to replace the three yearly audit and strategies previously required under the legislation:

The Strategic Plan 2008-11 identifies the key activities which will be undertaken during this period by the Safer Sandwell Partnership (SSP) in order to create safer, cleaner and stronger communities for the people of  Sandwell.

The Crime Reduction Community Safety & Drug Strategy - 2005/08:

The Strategic Assessment will establish the levels of and plan action to prevent and reduce crime, anti-social behaviour, behaviour adversely affecting the environment and substance misuse in Sandwell.
