Your Community
In Sandwell we want people to respect everyone and value everyone in our community as an equal.
Town Teams
The Town Teams work closely with local people and organisations to make services better for people in each town. They improve Sandwell in areas such as health, education and the environment.
They also ask local people what kinds of changes they want to see in their neighbourhoods and towns and work to address them.
Tasking
Tasking provides a simple mechanism for organisations to work jointly to address anti-social behaviour (ASB), crime and other community problems, which impact on residents quality of life and satisfaction with their neighbourhoods.
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, West Midlands Police, Sandwell Homes and West Midlands Fire Service and other partners have developed 'Tasking' arrangements across the borough as part of their broader neighbourhood management and neighbourhood policing strategies.
Neighbourhood Forums
A Neighbourhood Forum is place where you can share your concerns with the Council, Police, Fire Service, Sandwell Homes representatives and local Councillors.
Young People
Diverting young people from crime and anti-social behaviour is key to reducing the number of young people offending within Sandwell. Sandwell Council together with key partners has devised a single referral form to access a wide range of activities for children and young people at risk of anti-social behaviour or offending.

The main role of a Councillor is to represent their Ward, or area, and the people who live there.

Community Cohesion
Community cohesion is about all communities; the majority and minority, young and older members of our community, existing communities and new residents and communities moving into Sandwell.
Local people want to see a difference at neighbourhood and town level. Many communities have a sense of pride in the place where they live. Residents have stated that they want to feel that people are looking out for each other and pulling together as one community.
A key objective of Sandwell’s Community Cohesion Plan is ‘Investing in our communities’. This involves the development of social capital in Sandwell, these are the networks, social connections and trust that are formed when people from different backgrounds within a neighbourhood come together- the ‘glue’ that holds individuals together as a community. When communities are cohesive, then they can work together much better to resolve local issues through such tool as the Neighbourhood Forums and Tasking process.
