Tree Management
The Urban Forestry Unit, Groundcare Services deals with the inspection and maintenance of the Council's tree stock, primarily on highways, parks and open spaces, although we do carry out work on all other Council land where trees are located at the request of the Land Manager.
All trees that fall under the ownership or management of Sandwell MBC are protected. Therefore, it is illegal to prune, fell or carry out any form of works to these trees. If you are aware of or believe that a tree is being unlawfully pruned, felled or worked on, please contact:

The Council will actively seek to identify and prosecute any person(s) carrying out such illegal practices.Sandwell Council Urban Forestry Unit do not:
- Supply wood
- Recommend external tree surgeons for private work

Trees on Private Land/Gardens
Unfortunately the council cannot assist with work on trees located on private land unless it is deemed to be dead, diseased or dangerous. Instead you will need to contact a private tree surgeon; approved contractors can be found via the internet or Yellow Pages.
If a tree on private land is deemed to be dead, diseased or dangerous please contact us on the emergency numbers detailed below.
