The Transportation Planning function is part of the Urban Regeneration theme of Sandwell Council and assists with the development of transport policy, transport schemes and sustainable transport (TravelWise).
This website will help inform you of the most efficient and cost effective way of travelling around Sandwell and surrounding areas.

Car Share Sandwell has recently been launched to encourage residents to car share in and around Sandwell. Car sharing allows people to benefit from the convenience of the car, whilst also helping to save money, solve car-parking problems and reduce traffic and pollution. | |

Sandwell Company TravelWise is a local initiative which encourages companies and their employees to reflect on their current transport practices and recognise alternative means of travel, which may be more cost-effective, practical, healthy and environmentally friendly. | |
Cycling is the most efficient and environmentally friendly form of transport ever invented. Now that there is mass concern about obesity and other health problems relating to lack of exercise, the need for more people to cycle is greater than ever. | |
Walking is often described by health experts “as the nearest activity to perfect exercise”, being the only true form of door-to-door transport. Regular walking has many associated benefits, such as weight control, keeping your heart healthy and reducing stress. | |
There are a number of Transportation Schemes either planned or in progress within Sandwell. These schemes are part of an overall strategy aimed at providing Sandwell with a safe and efficient transport network catering for all modes of travel and all users. | |
| Sandwell Passenger Transport Unit (PTU) was established at the end of October 2005. It will standardise the passenger transport tendering, quotation and contract arrangements to provide a more efficient and cost-effective service and, where appropriate, manage these processes on behalf of the client services |
